JOEY'S WINGS FOUNDATION

Joey’s Wings Foundation, a 501c3 non-profit charity, was established in 2014 in the memory of Joey Xu, who was taken from us by childhood cancer on Nov. 26, 2014. Joey was diagnosed with xp11.2 translocation renal cell carcinoma, a rare but aggressive cancer, which has no standard treatment protocol. Our mission is to fund research that focuses on kidney cancers affecting children and young adults, raise awareness and provide support to families affected by childhood cancer. Our foundation is supported by an active Board of Directors operating solely on a volunteer basis. 100% of all donations made is used towards research and treatment options, patients care and advocacy for developing less toxic therapies to treat kidney cancer among children and young adults.

In June 2017, Joey’s Wings donates $100,000 to the kidney cancer program at the UTSouthwestern Medical Center to study renal cell carcinoma that affect children. Joey’s Wings is proud of you for your dedication and persistence to help us find less toxic treatment for children fighting cancer.

The New Children's Museum Exhibit: September 2017

From September 6 - October 2, the New Children's Museum of San Diego will display our 2,000 (more exactly 2,200) cranes for childhood cancer awareness. September is childhood cancer awareness month and 2,000 is the number of children die from cancer a year in this country. On Saturdays of September 9, 16, 23 & 30, museum will host 4 sections of origami workshops. We will sell some crane earrings and strings at the museum's gift shop. The New Children's Museum of San Diego is a dynamic new model of a children's museum that provides inventive and engaging art experiences that are meaningful to children and families.

From the bottom of our hearts, Joey's Wings wants to thank the team at The New Children's Museum. We are so humbled and honored by the work of the excellent team to make this happen. With their help, our voice for children with cancer is louder and stronger!Japanese legend says a wish can be granted if you fold 1,000 cranes. We've folded thousands and thousands of cranes.

We will not stop until one day the wish is granted: cure childhood cancer.
